Awana Cancelled Tonight

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009

The roads are pretty nasty, so stay safe tonight everyone!

Happy Birthday Jesus!

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

Come celebrate with us at Awana tonight. We’ll play some games, do some singing, have a tasty snack, and learn a little bit more about the amazing God we serve.

For The Zero People Who Read This Site

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

Don’t forget that there is no Awana this Wednesday, November 26. I hope everyone enjoys their Thanksgiving! I know I will.

Bee A Servant

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

JD, Danielle, and I attended the 2008 Awana conference over the weekend. It was nice to hear about what God is doing via Awana around the country and around the world. We also got some pretty cool ideas for games, which we’ll reveal as time permits. Good times await!

The Great ShakeUP

Wednesday, October 8th, 2008

I’m excited to see where God takes the Awana program this year. Already we’ve been bursting at the seams with kids, but we want more! Hence “The Great ShakeUP”, a program put together by Awana to help clubbers reach out to their friends.

Week 1 of the program was last Wednesday. The second week is tonight. Don’t miss it!

Welcome Back

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

It feels like forever since we’ve had a normal evening of Awana (if such an evening can ever be considered “normal”), but it’s only been two weeks. I’m looking forward to it, and hope you are too!

This is always such a beautiful time of year with colorful leaves and a refreshing chill in the air. I sometimes wish it could stay this way indefinitely, but alas, the dead of winter always comes shortly thereafter. But such is the way of things; I suppose it’s God’s way of reminding us to appreciate what we have and to enjoy life on a daily basis.

No Awana Tomorrow (the 24th)

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

Instead, you should seriously consider attending the Impact World Tour event at Xenia High School. It all goes down at 7:00pm. Rumor has it that fire is involved, so you know I’ll be there!

If You Post It They Will Come

Friday, September 19th, 2008

I doubt anyone is reading this site with regularity yet, but I figure that has no chance of changing if I don’t post regularly, ya know? Anyways, the 2008 Ohio Awana Conference is coming up in a few weeks, and I’m curious if anyone from EBCX is interested in going.

One of the things Awana has really tried hard to do in the past year or two is to change its image to include a broader scope of children and youth ministries. It doesn’t want to be viewed as just “Awana Clubs” but as a resource to come alongside churches, youth pastors, Sunday School teachers, and especially parents. This is evident in everything from the addition of new missionaries (i.e. the “church care” folks), publication of new materials (e.g. the Rorheim Institute stuff), and even the logo change.

All that to say this conference aims to do that as well; it ought to appeal to many more folks than “Awana nerds” (which I certainly don’t say pejoratively). So if you’re interested, leave me (Jud) a comment.

Actually, if you’re reading this at all, please let me know. I could use some affirmation! :-)

Insanity (But In A Good Way)

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

Over 80 kids attended tonight’s first “regular season” evening of the Awana year. And only one incident report filled out. I’d consider that a good evening, wouldn’t you?

I need to find someone to take pictures more regularly; I’m way too busy most evenings to even think about such things. It’d be a shame to let the year slip past without generating a nice set of photographs to remember it by.
