Insanity (But In A Good Way)

September 17th, 2008

Over 80 kids attended tonight’s first “regular season” evening of the Awana year. And only one incident report filled out. I’d consider that a good evening, wouldn’t you?

I need to find someone to take pictures more regularly; I’m way too busy most evenings to even think about such things. It’d be a shame to let the year slip past without generating a nice set of photographs to remember it by.

Game On

September 16th, 2008

Granted it’s nothing like what the folks in Texas are dealing with (keep them in your prayers), but it’s been a crazy couple of days ’round these parts. Kids needing a place to go to get out of the house for a bit? Then you’re in luck, because EBC has power and Awana will host its first regular evening tomorrow night.

In the past our policy has been to cancel Awana whenever the local school is closed, but that won’t be the case tomorrow. From now on, if there’s ever a question, simply check your friendly neighborhood Awana blog for details!

Hot Dog Kickoff!

September 10th, 2008

Last night we set up enough seating for 150 folks. Think we can fill it tonight? It’d be pretty sweet if we do.

EDIT: Filled to overflowing, to which the following pictures will attest:

Ready For Takeoff

September 7th, 2008

Thump thump. Is this thing on? Ahem, okay.

Hi everyone. I realize no one’s really reading at this point in the game, but we’ll work to change that. Anyways, as I sit here watching my fantasy football team underperform in its first week, I thought I’d spend a bit of time getting this blog up and running.

This will be my third year leading the Awana program at Emmanuel, and I’ve got to be honest, I’m more excited about this upcoming year than I’ve been before. A big part of that is the sheer number of folks that have stepped up to help. God has some great things planned, I’m sure of it.

Hot Dog Kickoff is this Wednesday at 6:00pm; don’t miss it!
